Case Worker - Tripoli

DRC Background The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Case Worker - Tripoli to support its activities. Reporting To Protection Officer Responsible For Managing individual cases of persons with specific needs General Responsibility Daily coordinate with UNHCR and all other local and international actors; Receive referrals from different agencies and local actors and provide feedback of actions taken Assist Protection officer in reporting of activities; Assist Protection officer in administrative matters related to the protection/CS activities; Assist Protection officer in the daily/weekly work plan, Carry out daily field visits and conduct home visits, awareness sessions, Focus Group Discussions/participatory assessments; Specific tasks Conduct home visits to vulnerable families’ homes and ensure case management by: Assessing the families’ needs by filling out needs assessment and case management form Providing basic counselling and psychological first aid to the family Setting up an intervention action plan jointly with the family Providing social counselling, awareness, guidance, emotional support when needed Assisting the families with material or financial assistance when needed and according to DRC’s financial assistance guidelines Referring individuals and families to appropriate services and ensure post referral follow up Conducting regular home visits to follow up on families and assess the progress of the action plan Assessing the situation of the family after services have been provided to ensure needs are met Disseminating and sharing information with Persons of Concern on their rights and access to services Ensuring proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) Setting up necessary measures and create conducive environment to ensure confidentiality during interviews and to secure sensitive information Keeping good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders Maintaining excel database to ensure that statistics and other reports are produced on a timely basis Closely coordinating with relevant staff on protection issues Reporting Write field visit daily reports on major findings, needs and problems faced; Contribute to the overall protection/CS monthly report underlining protection issues and related trends and figures in coordination with the Protection officer, Propose new activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered with activities Others Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Protection officer We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, irrespective of race, gender or age. Conditions Availability: ASAP (May 2013) Duty station: Tripoli Contract: Local, until the 30th of June, renewable (Based on Performance and availability of funds) The position will require full presence in Tripoli  from Monday till Friday, in addition to weekends when needed.
