Communication Officer

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011, and the Bekaa valley since February 2012. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities and rehabilitation of collective shelters. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Communication Officer, to support its activities under the project "Emergency Response for Displaced Syrians in Lebanon".   Reporting to Grants Manager Responsible for  Implementation of DRC communications and visibility plan                        Key Responsibilities: Communications activities: Contribute to the formulation of the DRC Lebanon communications plan; Prepare press releases, media briefs, talking points, newsletters, brochures; Photograph and maintain photographic database of all relevant project activities; Provide support to journalist visits; Coordinate and share communications activities with DRC Copenhagen, as appropriate; Provide technical support, training and clarification on internal and external communications policies and requirements Visibility materials: Coordinate with programme/project managers to plan visibility material needs; Produce donor visibility materials; produce visibility materials for project beneficiaries and the host community including fliers, posters, stickers, and vests. Other: Identify and promote new communications and visibility activities in coordination with field staff. Carry out any other relevant duties as requested by Grants Manager   Qualifications and work experience: University degree with advanced training/courses in communications, journalism, or other related field; At least three years of relevant professional experience in communications/related field. Exceptional command (written and spoken) of English and Arabic. Experience writing articles/case studies/reports Photography skills. Video skills an advantage. Graphic design skills, can manage to work on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
