Overall purpose of the role: DRC, implementing the LINKED project, is issuing a call for application to recruit one foreman for a Cash-for-Work project in Ghazzeh to supervise a public park rehabilitation with CFW modality. The awarded candidate, upon his/her technical skills and relevant experience in similar works, will be responsible for all day to day technical supervision of the works according to specific BOQs, managing technically all the workers and sharing the tasks, and supporting the workers with technical guidance and on the job training.
The foreman is recruited as consultant for his technical skills and ability to supervise technically the work site, specifically on earthworks, planting irrigation system implementation, fence implementation concrete works and furniture installation, construction rebar fixing, electrical works (light poles fixing and connecting.)The foreman will also be recruited to support beneficiaries on the work site, by sharing the tasks between them, showing them how to complete each task, providing with technical support and teaching them new skills or improving their skills on the work site.
The foreman will be daily present in the field managing technically the work site, supporting the beneficiaries in their tasks and insuring the achievement of the works as per the BOQs developed and presented to him by the consultancy firm.
The foreman will thus insure that the project is technically aligned with the BOQs, designs and completed on time, while making sure a save and protective work side is maintained
PS: this is a cash for work and is only for a defined period of time where the selected person is not entitled for benefits
Responsibilities:
- Assign tasks and develop a work schedule for skilled and unskilled workers
- Supervise technicaly all CFW project workers
- Provide each worker with guidance and technical support to acheive each task as per the standards and BOQs
- Teach on the work site/on the job new skills to the workers, according to the tasks to be acheived in the CFW project
- Improve the worker’s already existing skills with on the work site/on the job coaching, according to the tasks to be acheived in the CFW project
- Supervise the progress of works and acheivments of tasks upon the BOQs and schedule
- Report progress in the works to the DRC CFW officer
- Communicate any issues on the acheivment of the work and any needs (manpower ,materials, consumables, etc...) to the DRC CFW officer
- Ensure a quality control of the tasks done of each worker and respect of the safety rules and standards
Experience and technical competencies:
- Proven experience in civil construction field (minimum 3) especially in earthworks, concrete works and sidewalk paving
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and guidelines
- Experience in provision of technical training, supervision of unskilled workers
- Experience in working with NGOs;
- Ability to read drawings, plans and schedules
- Excellent organizational and technical skills
- Ability to communicate and report effectively
- Problem-solving abilities
