Database Development Consultant

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engage in our organization as a Database Development Consultant    Who are we  The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.   For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo     Duties  • Review DRC Lebanon’s data management system which will serve as the basis for the DRC Syria system;  • Review tools, data flow, and schema as provided by the MEL Manager;  • Develop a data management system (backend and frontend) for all DRC Syria activities;  • Thoroughly test the developed data management system;  • Draft a full technical documentation and operating manual of the data management system;  • Familiarize the MEL Manager, Database Officer, and Senior Database Assistant in the use of the data management system.   About you  To be successful in this role you must have the following:  Essential skills:   o Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field with significant professional experience;  o Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL server, or MySQL;   o Advanced knowledge of Wavemaker (or equivalent) to develop web-based applications;  o Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of clients at all times;   o Excellent organizational skills;  o Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility;  o Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well;  o Flexibility in working overtime when needed;   o Fluency in English required, including excellent written skills   Essential experience:  o Significant demonstrable experience developing data management systems using PostgreSQL, SQL server, or MySQL and web interface platforms such as Wavemaker;    We offer  An interesting consultancy job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 2 months consultancy contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from April 2016 and be willing and able to work in Beirut.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National and Expatriates staff.
