Driver (National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the position of Driver in DRC Bekaa Office    Who are we?  Danish refugee council has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.   DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.   For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo  In Bekaa you will find one of the most historical places in the world such as the Baalbek temple. It is also a safe and relaxing environment but at the same time very close to Beirut.    About the job  The driver is expected to represent Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Lebanon in a respectful and professional manner and always act in accordance with DRC Code of Conduct. The driver makes all journeys in accordance with established schedules.    Duties and Responsibilities  • Drives vehicles responsibly according to DRC’s driver manual  • Understands and follows all traffic rules, local speed limits and traffic regulations.  • Transports people and ensures that all the passengers are using seatbelts and abiding to DRC cars rules  • Transports material (making sure that the material & vehicle are not being damaged while stacking)  • Applying standard procedures in case of accident with a written report to the supervisor  • Keeps the vehicle clean and road-worthy, re-fuel and ensure that the tank never falls below half tank capacity.   • Fills all necessary documents and worksheets related to the fleets, example the logbooks  • Perform daily vehicle pre-departure checklist and confirm all required items are present.  • Use fuel card appropriately and record all consumption on log sheet.    About you  To be successful in this role you must have Lebanese Public driving license for at least 5 years.      In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:   Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.   Collaborating: You involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.   Taking the lead: You take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.   Communicating: You listen and speak effectively and honestly.   Demonstrating integrity: You act in line with our vision and values.     Moreover we also expect the following:  Required qualifications  • Primary school level  • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment  • Basic mechanical skills    Desirable qualifications  “Ideally, you will also have…”  • Willingness and ability to work flexible working hours  • Team spirit & adaptability  • Ready to work under pressure    We offer  DRC will offer the successful applicant a 9 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.
