Job Description
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria to Lebanon,since May 2011. This assistance has been provided in the form of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (including registration, follow-up and awareness sessions), rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.
DRC has launched its activities in the South of Lebanon in partnership withlocal NGOS, aiming mainly at the provision of non-food items and protection activities in coordination with local and international partners.
DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Emergency response Assistant, to support its activities under the project " Emergency Assistance to Conflict and Displacement Affected Population in Syria and Neighboring Countries”, funded by the European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO)
General Responsibilities
Daily coordination withthe implementing partner on the implementation of project activities, including but not restricted to the assessment of beneficiaries’ needs and the distribution of assistance
Assist partner NGO in reporting onimplemented activities
Carry out daily fieldvisits to monitorthe assessment and distribution procedures
Conduct focus group discussions/participatory assessments/rapid protection assessments
Carry out post-distribution monitoring (PDM) activities
Specific tasks
Closely coordinate with relevant staff on project implementation
Monitor the assessment and distribution proceduresimplemented by thepartner NGO outreach workers at vulnerable families’ homes
Assist the partner NGO outreach workers in disseminating and sharing information with persons of concern on their rights and access to services
Assist partner NGO in maintaining proper documentation of collected data (hard and soft copies)
Provide support to ensure data collection on newcomerson a daily basis in coordination with DRC’s implementing partner
Provide support to set up necessary measures and create a conducive environment to ensure confidentiality during interviews and to secure sensitive information
Maintain Excel database and ensure that statistics and other reports are produced and submittedin a timely manner
Plan, implement and evaluate the PDM process
Assist in thecoordination of the logistics for the procurement and distribution of assistance materials
Assist in the coordination of the logistics for the partner capacity building workshops
Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other local and international stakeholders
Reporting
Present daily field visit reports (on major findings, needs, challenges faced, etc.)
Present weekly newcomer reports
Assist in the preparation of the final PDM report
Others
Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Emergency Response Officer
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant university degree; preferably related to political science, law or social work
NGO experience
Experience in working in a difficult security environment preferable

Fluency in the Arabic and English languages - both spoken and written
