OVERALL OBJECTIVES
The Danish Refugee Council is fast expanding its response to the Syrian crisis and is looking to identify suitable Finance Assistants who are interested in working in Baalbeck.
BACKGROUND
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Finance Assistant-Baalbeck, to support its activities under the project "Emergency response for displaced Syrians in Lebanon".

Reporting relationships The Finance Assistant reports to the Finance and Admin officer/ Manager. Specific duties and responsibilities
Finance & Accounting:
Daily accounting (bookkeeping) according to DRC financial handbook
Prepare and submit monthly ledgers to the Finance and Admin Officer
Manage office's petty cash
Prepare monthly cash counts
Maintain proper filing of all financial documents (vouchers, contracts, tender documents, etc.)
Cash box counting according to DRC financial handbook
Ensuring that budgets and accounts are in accordance with donors' requirements (in coordination with the Project Manager or the Area Coordinator)
Per Diem account for the staff when needed
Request for money transfer when needed
Administration:
Receive/forward/file correspondence, reply to mails and letters, as per instructions
Photocopying tasks and other office work
Ensure proper booking of the inventory
Purchase stationary and other items, as per instructions
Follow up on staff HR’s requirements (Business Cards, Ids, contract, ToRs...)
Supervising general administration of the office
Qualifications:
University degree in Accounting or related area
Minimum of 2 years' relevant working experience
Fluency in written and spoken English
Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Accuracy and reliability
Proven ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines
Personal commitment, flexibility, efficiency
Well-developed organizational and planning skills
Self-motivation and strong team spirit
Duration: Until the 30th of June 2014; renewable (depending on performance and availability of funds)
Starting date: ASAP
