LINKED is issuing this Call for Application, to recruit one foreman for a CfW project in T5 to oversee and support in traffic safety planning The awarded candidate, upon his/her technical skills and relevant experience in similar works, will be responsible for all day-to-day technical supervision of the works according to specific BOQs, managing technically all the workers and sharing the tasks, and supporting the workers with technical guidance and on the job training.
The foreman is recruited as a consultant for his/her technical skills and ability to supervise technically a work site, specifically on sign preparation and installation, fixation of steel posts, installation of signage, construction of speed bumps, installation of road reflectors and road marking. The foreman will also be recruited to support beneficiaries on the work site, by sharing the tasks between them, showing them how to complete each task, providing them with technical support and teaching them new skills or improving their skills on the work-site, particularly on fixation and installation to be taught.
The foreman will be daily present in the field, managing technically the work site, supporting the beneficiaries in their tasks and ensuring the achievement of the works as per the BOQs developed and presented to him/her by the consultancy firm.
The foreman will thus ensure that the project is technically aligned with the BOQs and completed on time, while making sure a safe and productive work site is maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Interprets plans and specifications to workers
- Assign tasks and develop a work schedule for skilled and unskilled workers
- Supervise technically all Cash for Work project’s workers
- Provide each workers with guidance and technical support to achieve each task as per the standards and BOQs
- Teach on the work-site/on-the-job new skills to the workers, according to the tasks to be achieved in the CfW project
- Improve the workers’ already existing skills with on the work-site/on-the-job coaching, according to the tasks to be achieved in the CfW project
- Supervise the progress of works and achievement of tasks upon the BOQs and schedule
- Report progress on the works to the DRC Cash-for-Work officer
- Communicate any issues on the achievement of the work and any needs (manpower, materials, consumables, etc.) to the DRC Cash-for-Work officer
- Ensure a quality control of tasks done by each worker and the respect of the safety rules and standards
Deliverables:
The consultancy work will start on October 4 and will take 30 working days. Specific deliverables include:
- A briefing on progress and achievement of the works as per the BOQs
Timeframe for Outputs/Deliverables:
5 days (40 working hours) per week for 8 weeks
Experience and technical competencies:
- At least three years of relevant experience in construction and urban planning, work-site supervision, engineering;
- Experience in working with NGOs;
- Experience in provision of technical training, supervision of unskilled workers;
Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)
Technical education in engineering or urban planning fields of the CFW project.
Languages:
Full proficiency in spoken and written Arabic.
Key stakeholders: (internal and external)
DRC programme teams.
Location:
Based on the above timeframe for outputs and deliverables table, the consultant will be executing his/her tasks in Bakhoun- Dannieh
- Lebanon
