Forman Contractor - Casual Worker (Amioun Area)

LINKED is issuing this Call for Application, to recruit one foreman for cash for work project in Al Koura district. The project consists of a road construction including all the needed activities from excavation to filling to all the other needed activities to facilitate farmers' access to major agricultural lands in the vicinity. The awarded candidate, upon his/her technical skills and relevant experience in civil engineering works, will be responsible for all day-to-day technical supervision and implementation of the road construction according to specific BOQs, managing all the daily workers and delegate the tasks, and supporting the workers with technical guidance.

The foreman is recruited as a consultant for his/her technical skills and ability to supervise technically a work site, specifically construction of a 1.6 Km road in Koura district to allow easy access for farmers and refugees to all rural agricultural lands. The scope of work will include roads opening, levelling, base coarse and compaction for the whole road length.

 

The Foreman should have full understanding and supervision on the following implementation activities:

  • Site cleaning and grubbing
  • Cut fill works
  • Basecoarse laying
  • Demobilization and cleaning

The foreman will also be recruited to support beneficiaries on the work site, by sharing the tasks between them, showing them how to complete each task, providing them with technical support and teaching them new skills or improving their skills on the work-site, particularly on pathway excavation.

The foreman will be daily present in the field, implementing the design plan of the road, managing technically the work site, supporting the beneficiaries in their tasks and ensuring the achievement of the works as per the BOQs developed and presented to him/her by a consultancy firm.

The foreman will thus ensure that the project is technically aligned with the BOQs and completed on time, while making sure a safe and productive work site is maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Interprets plans, specifications and BoQ for road construction project
  • Assign tasks and develop a work schedule for skilled and unskilled workers
  • Supervise technically all Cash for Work project’s workers
  • Provide each workers with guidance, technical support and improve the worker’s already existing skills to achieve each task as per the standards and BOQ’s received.
  • Supervise the progress of works and achievement of tasks upon the BOQs and schedule
  • Report progress on the works to the DRC Cash-for-Work officer
  • Communicate any issues on the achievement of the work and any needs (manpower, materials, consumables, etc.) to the DRC Cash-for-Work officer
  • Ensure a quality control of tasks done by each worker and the respect of the safety rules and standards

 

Deliverables:

The consultancy work will start once the CFW activities starts and will take 40 working days. Specific deliverables include:

  • A briefing on progress and achievement of the works as per the BOQs

Timeframe for Outputs/Deliverables:

5 days (40 working hours) per week for 8 weeks
