Gbv Protection Officer - Baalbek

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of GBV Protection Officer, to support its activities under the project “Emergency Response for Displaced Syrians in Northern Lebanon” in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). General Responsibility Daily coordinate with UNHCR and all other local and international actors; Receive referrals from different agencies, do action plan and appropriate response to each case; Provide feedback of actions taken to DRC managers and other agencies when necessary; Assist Protection Manager in reporting of activities; Assist Protection Manager in administrative matters related to the protection/CS activities; Assist Protection Manager in the daily/weekly work plan, Carry out field visits and conduct home visits, awareness sessions, Focus Group Discussions/participatory assessments, meetings with partners. Specific tasks Keeping good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders; Work with the child protection section and other DRC sectors to ensure GBV prevention and response is adequately addressed across sectors and humanitarian interventions; Work with DRC partners and staff to implement mitigation measures to better protect women and girls; Closely coordinating with relevant staff on SGBV protection issues; Supervising and coaching the case managers and social workers in their SGBV prevention and response activities; Following up on the progress of the SGBV prevention and response programming; Conduct regular meetings with implementing partners to follow up on their SGBV protection activities; Follow up on the activities for women at risk in DRC’s community centres and SDCs’s in coordination with the community mobilization officer; Following up on the individual case management activities to women at risk by delivering home visits to vulnerable families’ homes and by supervising case workers and social workers in the following: Assessing the women at risk’s needs by filling out needs assessment, case management form and GBV intake form when appropriate; Providing basic counselling and psychological first aid to women at risk; Setting up an intervention action plan jointly with the women in concern; Providing social counselling, awareness, guidance, emotional support when needed; Assisting women at risk with material or financial assistance when needed and according to DRC’s financial assistance guidelines; Referring women at risk to appropriate services and ensure post referral follow up; Conducting regular home visits to follow up on women in concern and assess the progress of the action plan; Assessing the situation of women in concern after services have been provided to ensure needs are met Disseminating and sharing information with Persons of Concern on their rights and access to services; Ensuring proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies); Setting up necessary measures and create conducive environment to ensure confidentiality during interviews and to secure sensitive information; Reporting Write field visit daily and weekly reports on major findings, needs and challenges faced; Contribute to the overall protection/CS weekly/monthly report underlining protection issues and related trends and figures in coordination with the Protection Manager; Propose new activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered with activities; Maintain and update database on SGBV protection activities. Others Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Protection Manager. Conditions Availability: ASAP Duty station: Baalbek Contract: Local, until the 31st of December, renewable (Based on Performance and availability of funds) The position will require full presence in Baalbek from Monday till Friday, in addition to weekends when needed.
