GBV Protection Officer (National Contract)

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified who has to supervise the SGBV and PWSN Case management and PSS interventions.

About the job 

Timely and efficient supervision of SGBV and PWSN case management, and of psychosocial support interventions within the adolescent girls programme, with a focus on working with adolescents, caregivers, men and gender-based violence survivors in addition to children survivors of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Ensure that GBV caseworkers provide GBV case management in compliance with best-practices, IASC GBV guidelines, inter-agency GBV SOPs and DRC’s case management SOPs, and that at all times caseworkers are safeguarding the safety and respect of the survivor, in addition to the confidentiality of his/her information and his/her right to access services without any discrimination and ensure that he is  conducting emotional support and quality counselling group sessions with women/Girls at risk or survivors of SGBV in compliance with best-practice and DRC’s guidelines, including ensuring survivors and staff safety while conducting home visits for child spouses 

• Supervise PWSN case workers; ensure that PWSN caseworkers provide PWSN case management and conduct effective group interventions focusing on psychosocial-support andpeer-to-peer support for persons with specific needs in compliance with best-practice and DRC’s guidelines 

• Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring to the Adolescent Girl facilitators, Engaging Men and Boys facilitators and Adolescent Girls animators (hereinafter referred to as AG team) on DRC’s Adolescent Girls programme and GBV guiding principles, including technical guidance on empowering adolescent girls, engaging with adolescent boys, working with female caregivers and engaging with male caregivers 

• Provide trainings to non-GBV actors on SGBV guiding principles and basic concepts, and on the safe identification and referral of SGBV cases, in compliance with IASC GBV guidelines and GBV SOPs 

• In coordination with Protection Manager, ensure effective time management, planning and implementation of programme activities;efficiently manage the time and schedule of team members in mobile and centre-based locations, including leave and holiday planning 

• Support each team member to develop a weekly, monthly and yearly workplan. Update and follow-up on workplans regularly 

• Train newly recruited facilitators on DRC’s adolescent girls programme and newly recruited case workers on the case management process 

• In coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team, ensure the quality implementation of the grants’ MEL plan. Share the results and lessons learned in a timely fashion with the relevant parties 

• Support Protection Manager in producing monthly reports and submitting internal and donor reports and Protection Coordinators in advocating for the needs of vulnerable women, men and adolescnets both internally and through coordination mechanisms through evidence-based advocacy 

• In coordination with Protection Manager, activity participate in GBV Working groups, GBVIMS Working groups and other relevant sector working groups and coordination meetings

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a bachelor degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:  

Required  

• At least 2 years of experience in counseling survivors of gender-based violence and providing GBV case management to individuals at risk of or survivors of GBV 

• At least 2 years of experience in working in the humanitarian sector and/or with NGOs in Lebanon 

• Ability to provide technical support, trainings and supervision of GBV and CP caseworkers 

Ability to communicate and write clearly in English is a must

• Female candidates are encouraged to apply

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) 

• Flexibility in working overtime when needed

We offer

Contract length: 12 months, pending funds approval  

Level:  C 

Monthly basic salary: 1650 USD 

Duty Station: Tripoli. North Lebanon  

Start date: First of January 2018
