DRC is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual who is excited to work in communications and media for an organization dedicated to supporting people in need. The successful individual will assist in the development and of infographics covering a yearlong of DRC protection monitoring activities.
Who are we?The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programmes have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestine refugees in Lebanon, as well as supporting vulnerable communities of Lebanese who are hosting refugees. About the jobDRC has produced several reports and is looking for producing a comprehensive infographic that includes the finding of several of these reports, demystifying some of the terms used and making the final research findings accessible to a non-technical audience under the supervision of the DRC Grants and Programme Development Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities
Desk review of critical information in the project, communication and reporting documents;
Develop the infographic concept and scenario;
Submit a storyboard and script for the infographic for approval by DRC;
Perform appropriate short interviews with DRC staff, beneficiaries and stakeholders
Compile and capture high resolution photos, if necessary, to report in the final document;
Develop and submit a draft infographic brochure incorporating critical information including interviews, maps, photos major results and relevant project information;
Analyse and synthetize information, including findings, results and challenges in partnership with DRC communication team in a succinct infographic brochure that should total be feasibly printed on an A3 or A2 page;
Follow DRC brand guidelines including colours, fonts and correct use of logos;
Ensure all information in the infographic are sourced, documented and cited properly;
Present the draft infographic document to DRC for comments;
Compile comments and submit a final infographic document to DRC
The look, feel, and style of the infographic must be in line with DRC branding guidelines, fonts, colours, logos…etc.
About youTo be successful in this role you must have:
Experience of visualising data in compelling format for advocacy/campaign purposes
Knowledge of data journalism and able to translate data into compelling, high quality graphics
Strong communication and coordination skills
Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage)
Knowledge of DRC, the Lebanon Crisis Response and/or humanitarian action an asset
We offerDRC will offer the successful applicant a 1-month contract. You must be available to start work in April 2017 and be willing and able to work in Beirut with travel to the field. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for consultants
