Line Cook Trainer – Lebanese and International Cuisine

About the job 

The purpose of the Line Cook Trainer is to provide participants with the basic knowledge about cooking, mainly focusing on safety and sanitation, as well as providing them with new food recipes. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Set up the space provided by DRC for the class, support DRC staff to identify missing items needed for the class. 

• Support DRC staff to identify and enroll interested participants from the community. 

• Teach the participants proper kitchen sanitation and cleanliness, food handling and storage, different recipes, different kitchen equipment and tools, controlling waste and spoilage, proper measurement of products, and practical application of the recipes. 

• Take attendance and follow-up with participants on their regular commitment. 

• Maintain a safe and effective teaching / learning environment during the sessions and report any incident to DRC Livelihood staff. 

• Preserve and keep track of all the training materials and class equipment and report to the line manager in case of missing items. 

• Develop a midterm and a final exam to evaluate the learning effectiveness.  

• Provide weekly reports to measure progress, identify barriers to learning and recommend action to overcome

Target Audience: 

• Vulnerable beneficiaries selected by DRC,  

• Mixed classes of Youth and Adults (18-50 years old), Lebanese and Syrians, Male and Female.

About you 

• To be successful in this role we expect you to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chef or sous Chef in North Lebanon 

Moreover, we also expect the following:  

Required: 

• Experience in working with the local environment,  

• Previous experience working with NGO’s 

• Good training skills

We offer 

  • Contract length: 2 months, 3 or 4 days a week, for a total period of 80 hours 
  • Level: Trainer 
  • Salary: 12.5 USD/hour 
  • Duty Station: Tripoli 
  • Start date: May 2018
