Operating since 2004 in Lebanon, DRC has addressed the needs and rights of vulnerable populations, working initially with Palestinian refugees (since 2004), Iraqi refugees (2007-2010), Lebanese IDPs (during the 2006 conflict), migrant domestic workers (since 2009) and, since 2011, responding to the Syrian refugee crisis.
DRC Lebanon is currently delivering programming in protection, housing, infrastructure, basic assistance, livelihoods, and community development interventions. This myriad programming seeks to address the immediate needs of displaced populations and concurrently support vulnerable host populations. DRC has five offices spread throughout Lebanon in, Beirut, the Bekaa, Saida, Tripoli and Qobayat.
About the job
The Livelihoods intern will be based in the employability centers in the North as a member of the Livelihoods department, under the direct supervision of the Career Counselling Officer and will be responsible of conducting socio-economic profiling, baselines/endlines and satisfaction surveys, in addition to providing life skills trainings, and supporting the officer in other related businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing front-desk registration coverage for Livelihoods programme/ Centers and offering general information about the employability center and its services, answering phone calls, calling beneficiaries to make registration appointments, and following- up with the previously contacted beneficiaries.
- Organize and perform socio-economic profiling and work on information systems/databases to record relevant data of beneficiaries.
- Support the career counseling officer through providing the socio-economic profiling assessment, baseline/endline surveys, satisfaction surveys, taking appointments for career counselling, arranging schedules, etc.
- Organize the life skills training sessions for program participants, and support beneficiaries in filling attendance sheets pre &post –tests.
- Ensure the classification and good archiving of each beneficiaries’ files while abiding by the data protection policy,
- Ensure strong engagement with beneficiaries targeted and make sure their enquiries are answered in a timely manner. Similarly, inform beneficiaries about the feedback and complaints mechanism and the hotline number.
- Any other task relevant to the position and as requested by the livelihoods officer/ Team Leader or MEAL Team Leader.
Technical competencies:
Desirable
Preferably to have good understanding on the Livelihoods activities, social services or related sectors, which would include involvement with the following activities:
- Implementation of life skills development trainings programs
- Profiling and registration of beneficiaries
- Training and facilitation for staff and community groups
Education:
- Bachelor University degree; preferably related to international development, social sciences, economics, or psychology.
Languages:
- Excellent proficiency in English (required)
- Arabic (Preferred)
