Who are we?
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

About the job
The Livelihoods Officer will be based in Akkar as a member of the Cash and Livelihoods department. The Livelihoods Officer will be under the direct supervision of the Area Cash and Livelihood manager and will play a key role in implementing various Livelihoods programs in Akkar. S/he will work to ensure the Livelihood intervention is ongoing with highest technical quality, activities and reporting are completed on time, and that problems and challenges are identified proactively and solution provided in a feasible manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Actively lead the implementation of the livelihoods activities in Akkar in a way that ensures coherence between planned activities and commitments outlined in projects proposals.
• Act as the main liaison between communities and municipalities and the DRC office in all program-related issues; maintain good relationships with beneficiaries, and professional rel Plan, monitor, and report on all projects activities in close coordination with the Area Cash and Livelihoods Manager and Livelihood Assistants across project sites
• Ensure follow up with project partners (if any), to monitor progress, and implementation quality to ensure that activities are delivered according to DRC and donors standards.
• Work closely with Community Empowerment and Governance and Housing and infrastructuredepartments to support coordination between various project activities, as well as coordination between communities and municipalities in Akkar in order to ensure integrated programming and streamlined communication
• Assist in the recruitment of qualified and experienced livelihoods staff, trainers, and consultants if required.
• Work closely with operational staff to ensure a proper management and follow up on order requests, payment requests and assets.
• Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation department to facilitate monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure program implementation is on track and of highest quality.
• Assist in the development of training/ awareness raising materials, organize and conduct trainings for program beneficiaries and stakeholders and assist with the training of the Livelihood Assistants to ensure they have solid understanding of key program documents and tools, including Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning tools.
• Frequently conduct field visits in order to ensure a good work quality from LivelihoodsAssistants and beneficiaries.
• Any other task relevant to the position and as requested by theProgram Manager

• A minimum of a Bachelor University degree; preferably related to international development, economics, business

Required qualifications
• 3 years’ minimum experience with INGOs, preferably in Livelihoods, Cash, or related sectors, which would include experience with the following activities:
• Implementation of skills development and employability trainings programs
• Implementation of Cash for Work Projects integrated in Community Support Projects
• Cash delivery mechanism and modalities
• Conducting market assessments.
• Community mobilization
• Training and facilitation for staff and community groups
Desirable qualifications
Ideally, you will also have:
• English: fluent
• Arabic: fluent
We offer
DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of December 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from July 2017 and be willing and able to work in Akkar.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at level C1, equivalent to 1,650$ per month.
