The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011, and the Bekaa valley since February 2012. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities and rehabilitation of collective shelters.
DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Logistics Assistant - North, to support its activities under the project "Emergency Response for Displaced Syrians in Lebanon" in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Main responsibilities:
Asses logistics and procurement needs as required for DRC office and apartments in Qobayat
Prepare for negotiations and/or agreements with suppliers and recipients
Cover all logistical needs of DRC office in Qobayat in addition to the DRC staff
apartments (office and apartment supplies, maintenance stationary etc…)
Assist with issues relating to the Logistics aspects of procurement, purchasing
documentation, procedures and practices, financial procedures and registry
Ensure that all procurement procedures are according to DRC standards
Coordinate the procurement of necessary monthly stationary and supplies for the centers;
Ensure warehouse management in case required
Make periodic random checks during loading/unloading operations to ensure that commodities by the trucks confirm to the quantity record on the truck waybill
Assist distribution officer when its needed
Ensure the Logistic department updates regularly the assets list;
Reporting:
Keep soft and hard records of all procurement documents (contracts, services, goods, works);
Assist the Admin and Finance assistant in archiving all forms related to procurement and logistics
Work closely and report verbally to the procurement and logistics officer in Beirut office
Submit progress and status reports to the Project Manager& Logistic Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
University degree;
Minimum 3 years of work experience in logistics and procurement
NGO experience
Experience in emergency work is a plus
Very good contact and knowledge about different suppliers all over Lebanon and the north in particular
Required Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to the values, vision and mission of DRC
Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel…)
Well-developed organizational and planning skills
Self-motivation and strong team spirit
Ability to speak, read and write Arabic and English proficiently
Duration:5 months; renewable (depending on performance and availability of funds)
Starting date:As soon as possible
