DRC Background
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant to support its activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
Organize and conduct monitoring visits with DRC beneficiaries and to DRC program sites;
Assist the M&E Officer/Manager carry out the daily/weekly/monthly work plan;
Assist the M&E Officer/Manager with administrative and logistic requirements of the M&E Team;
Ensure monitoring schedule, data collection targets, and reporting deadlines are adhered to;
Assist with all other duties as required by the M&E Officer/Manager.
Specific Tasks
Conduct participatory monitoring activities with DRC beneficiaries to get information and feedback on the quality and relevance of assistance;
Regularly undertake field monitoring trips to conduct household interviews, post-distribution monitoring, focus group discussions, and community visits;
Identify and refer/report individuals with special needs, protection concerns, and any problems with DRC services to M&E Officer/Manager and relevant program staff;
Conduct field visits to DRC program sites in accordance with donor requirements and the Field Office monitoring schedule;
Ensure accurate data collection, entry, and upload;
Ensure timely reporting on monitoring activities;
Provide regular verbal and written feedback on field observations and monitoring findings to the M&E Officer/Manager and relevant program staff.
Qualifications and Position Requirements
Essential
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience – preferably in social work, community development, non-government, and/or outreach organizations;
Undergraduate degree/advanced diploma in social sciences, humanities, quantitative/qualitative research methods, public health, or related field OR high school diploma with significant professional experience;
A current driving license, held for at least two years;
Good knowledge of local context and community in the North Bekaa area;
Languages: Fluency (native speaker) in written and spoken Arabic, good working knowledge of written and spoken English;
IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office suite (Excel experience preferred);
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and a strong team spirit;
Self-motivated and organized with a demonstrated capacity to manage time and personal work plan;
Optimistic attitude and a great sense of humor are essential requirements of the position!
Preferable
Experience working with communities, families and individuals with special needs;
Experience using survey and/or database software and tools;
