Municipality Support Assistant (South)

DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the Municipality Support Assistant position, to support its activities.   Who are weThe Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the jobTo work within a team of highly motivated people and an organization dedicated to provide assistance to refugees and other affected groups in south Lebanon( Bourj Rahal ), through the implementation of all Community Support Projects activities. Duties•Share information on available services with Syrian refugees and displacement affected community, including newcomers, and refer them to UNHCR for registration and targeted assistance•Gather data on Syrian refugees and displacement affected communities (municipal registration, location, household size, contact details etc.), if requested by the municipality.•Support the municipality with carrying out assessments to identify local needs•Support DRC while conducting service mapping of all agencies (LNGOs, INGOs, CBOs, CSO…etc.) operating in the area to determine what services are being offered and which projects are being implemented•Work as an entry point to the municipality and a focal point for coordinating with all agencies that are providing services to displaced affected population•Participate with DRC in the identification of  vulnerable individuals with specific needs and refer them to the appropriate service provider•Coordinate with, and support the work of, municipality staff tasked with assisting vulnerable Lebanese•Monitor the humanitarian situation to deliver weekly situational reports to the Head of Municipality and DRC•Participate in monthly meetings with DRC•Support in organizing activities including, but not limited to, events and trainings for municipality staff on humanitarian issues and services in Lebanon, as per DRC advice•Participate in trainings organized by DRC when required (giving 1-2 days notice to the Head of Municipality)•Support the work of the DRC Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) consultant in her/his development of a municipality EPRP plan•Assist the municipality in conducting other relevant administrative tasks including, but not limited to, filing and the writing of meeting minutes•Any other duties as directed by the Head of Municipality and DRC About youEssential qualifications:High school diploma and originaly/living in Bourj RahalPreferred qualifications: Bachelor Degree in social fieldPreferred experience:Experience working with NGOs and municipalities We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 Month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from July 1st and be willing and able to work in the South.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
