National Safety Coordinator

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engaged in our organization as a National Safety Coordinator.   Who are we The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assistance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis. DRC is pursuing a long-term commitment into the NSC. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk   Duties • Oversees the work of the Safety Officers (SO), Safety Assistants (SA), and Safety Focal Points (SFP) • Provide regular updates and analysis of the security situation to the Country Director, and Senior Management Team and Regional Safety Advisor, as required • Supervise the monthly assessment of the Minimum Operating Safety Standards (MOSS) and Safety Level System (SLS) • Supervise the regular conduct of Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) as per DRC policy • Monitor the evolving situation in the area of DRC operations in coordination with other actors as per regional, country and programme guidelines • Collect, verify, analyze and report information that affects, or may affect, DRC operations • Prepare and submit security reports and trend analyses based on and provide monthly statistics • Supervise the implementation of global and regional security policies, protocols and procedures related to the safe implementation of programme activities • Supervise and monitor the development and implementation of context specific Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS) • Advise, assist and control the procurement and issue of security and protective equipment, as required • Establish or reinforce relations with the representatives of the different administrative services   Reporting to: Country Director   About you To be successful in this role you must have: • Tertiary education (Bachelor minimum) in communication, politics, risk or other related field • 3-5 years’ experience working with NGOs, other international agencies or multinational business • Management and/or supervisory experience • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines • Stable, moral and robust character and a good team-player • Ability to adapt to  flexible working hours • Excellent communication skills, calm and a good sense of humor • Proven commitment to accountability practices • Strong information technology skills • Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic   We offer An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from February 2016 and be willing and able to work in Beirut. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level E+, equivalent to 3502 USD per month.   Commitments DRC has a Humanitarian Accountability Framework, outlining its global accountability commitments.
