Protection Assistant ( Focused PSS for PWSN) 2 Positions

DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions.   With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff,  DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams 

About the job 

Provide focused psychosocial support (FPSS) and facilitate peer-to-peer support to persons with specific needs at-risk through group interventions.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:  

  • Provide focused psychosocial support and peer-to-peer support to PWSN through group interventions, to be conducted in accessible safe spaces identified in collaboration with group participants, focusing on elderly; 
  • Create a safe space where participants can voice their opinions, thoughts and emotions, share experiences and brainstorm on solutions in a confidential and respectful manner; 
  • Apply age and gender appropriate facilitation skills during group sessions; use inter-active adult learning techniques to effectively engage with session participants. 
  • Ensure the delivery of Focused PSS in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs and standards. 
  • Identify safe spaces to provide FPSS that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities agreed at the inter-agency level. 
  • Ensure that persons with specific needs are registered in focused PSS activities without creating stigma and/or judgement 
  • Adapt the location and timing of sessions, content and approach of the focused PSS program to the needs and availability of the participants.  
  • Actively identify the most vulnerable PWSN through different outreach methodologies and ensure their enrollment in focused PSS programs, peer-to-peer support groups or other activities as relevant. 
  • Ensure PWSN in focused PSS sessions or peer-to-peer support groups are referred to case management or other relevant services and assistance as needed and ensure referrals are followed-up on in a timely manner to ensure delivery of services. 
  • Coordinate closely with PWSN caseworkers to ensure the case plan is taken into consideration to tailor focused PSS intervention to the needs of each PWSN. 
  • Actively ensure referrals from community-based protection activities and case management to focused PSS. 
  • Support participants to provide feedback on focused PSS. 
  • Ensure proper documentation of data collected during PSS activities (hard and soft copies) and proper documentation of referral data, in compliance with data protection policies, and ensure the confidentiality of data and information at all times. 
  • Observing and monitor community facilitators’ implementation as required and when needed. 
  • Identify Community Focal Points and members of Community Based Groups to support facilitation of FPSS sessions; 
  • Support the identification of trainings needs of facilitators supporting FPSS sessions and support the provision of coaching, mentoring and training as needed. 
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on challenges in the implementation of the program; 
  • Support the logistics and procurement processes needed for the implementation of PSS activities. 
  • Maintain positive relations with implementing actors, local authorities and other international and stakeholders. 

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:  

Required  

  • 1 year of experience in psychosocial support and/or case management 
  • Good knowledge of protection, PSS and disability inclusion basic principles,  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion of PWSN at all times  
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and psychosocial first aid skills 
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility 
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible with working hours and able to handle pressure well 
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) 
  • Preferred qualifications: 
  • Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus
