Protection Mainstreaming Officer (Lebanese National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualifiedindividual with a mind set to achieve success in a humanitarian organization working in a challenging but interesting environment.    Who are we  The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assistance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo   About the job  To ensure that Protection, GBV and Child Protection considerations inform all aspects of implementation in the following sectors: Shelter, CSMC, Community Empowerment, Cash and Livelihoods and M&E. Also to ensure that programmes are accessible to vulnerable individuals such as children, women survivors of GBV and Persons with Specific Needs.   Duties  • Under the guidance of the Protection Manager (PM) and DAPM, to review all projects in above mentioned sectors for adherence to minimum standards in protection  • To submit reports to the PM and DAPM presenting the results of the review with recommendations and corrective measures  • To support sector teams in the roll-out and implementation of recommendations  • To provide technical support on protection to other sector teams through capacity building and sensitization training  • To roll-out an internal and external referral pathway linking each sector to the services provided under protection.   • To act as focal point between protection and other sectors in following-up on referrals.  • To provide input on proposal that ensure protection concerns are considered during project design.  • To ensure protection is represented in all urgent/emergency cases particularly in collective shelters and ITSs.   About you  To be successful in this role you must have bachelor’s degree in social sciences, political sciences, sociology or related fields, minimum 3 years’ experience with NGOs in protection field, excellent writing skills, strong communication and team work skills, Ability to coordinate tasks between multiple sectors, strong command of written and spoken English.  Ideally you will also haveMasters degree in a protection related field, experience in child protection and GBV are a competitive advantage     We offer  An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till 30th of September 2016, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from May 2016 and be willing and able to work in Bekaa.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
