Protection Officer (Community Engagement)

About the job 

Supervise and coordinate the implementation of activities including community support and community mobilization activities and the community centers in North Lebanon.  ​

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Prepare and lead the implementation of the work plan on field for DRC direct implementation in static and mobile spaces. 

• Provide support and continuous monitoring to the implementation of the community empowerment programs including but not limited to CDC activities, Solidarity initiatives, community-based groups, community mobilization events, etc. 

• Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to the Protection CE team. Line manage, supervise, build the capacity and support protection (community engagement) assistants in their day to day work.  

• Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan and with the support of the protection team leader and protection specialist, document best practices and lessons learned and recommendations and develop action plans to maximize these 

• Participate in preparing internal and external monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports. 

• Conduct field visits and regular follow-up on activities’ implementation at community centers and safe spaces.  

• Coordinate donor or internal visits to Protection CE activities/spaces, with the support of the protection team leader. 

• Liaise and coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders as deemed needed and relevant. 

• Support the monitoring of financial resources and allocated expenditures against budgets, and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up. 

• Represent DRC and attend meetings, cooperate and share relevant information with other NGOs, local authorities and other organizations working in the social stability domain.  

• Contribute to the capacity building programs of local partners through the provision of technical support and training.​

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a University degree or higher education relevant to social work, business administration, human rights, law, social sciences or humanitarian aid. ​

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required  

• 2 years of proven experience in undertaking community empowerment initiatives 

• 1 year of proven experience in team management 

• Strong written and oral communication skills, reporting and planning, effective in representation and liaison with external parties, knowledge in operations such as finance, HR and procurement.​

Desirable 

• Experience in governance (including community empowerment, self-management, liaison with local stakeholders, conflict mitigation)​

We offer 

  • Contract length: until 31 December 2019 
  • Band/Level: Band H2 level 1 Basic Salary: 1750 USD (Depending on experience and qualifications)  
  • Duty Station: Tripoli 
  • Start date: 27 May 2019​
