Psychosocial Support Assistant – Zahle

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate to do psychosocial first aid through conducting home visits to most vulnerable Newcomer families in central and west Bekaa. Who are we DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade , running a combination of livelihood , protection ,advocacy and relief projects .DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Syria , Tunisia/Libya , Turkey , and both a country and regional office in Jordan . Since May 2011 , DRC has been actively involved in  the Lebanon emergency response to the Syrian crisis with presence in the North , East (Bekaa valley ) and South of Lebanon. . The DRC response is designed around 4 majors sectors :Food /NFI distribution , Protection , Shelter and livelihood support . As such , DRC is positioned in Lebanon as a main implementing partner of UNHCR , UNICEF , WFP , ECHO and DANIDA , implying a rapid expansion of its programme and structure.     For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the job You will help in finalizing the protection assessment of Newcomer families in central and west Bekaa in order to give them psychosocial support and/or refer their cases to protection agencies.   Duties Set up protection desks in centralized assessment and distribution activities Fill out the new questionnaires in the home visits  Extract Household lists from the Data Base based on the vulnerability scoring.  Receive referrals from different agencies and local actors and provide feedback of actions taken Assist Emergency Response officer in reporting of activities  Provide psychological first aid and basic counselling to individuals with psychosocial needs Monitor protection risks and needs     About you To be successful in this role you must have a University Degree (Bachelor Degree) , in Psychology, Social Sciences or Humanitarian attribute,  in addition to a previous experience as Social Worker or at least Volunteer for a year with any local or international NGO.   Ideally you will also have a  bachelor of Human rights  and a Social Worker for 1 year. We offer An interesting job in one of theworld’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till 31st December 2014, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 4th of August 2014 and be willing and able to work in Zahle. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level B1, equivalent to 1180 usd per month.
