DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

Support the delivery of quality psychosocial support (PSS) activities to children, caregivers and adolescent boys in a timely and efficient manner for DRC’s protection program.
Duties and Responsibilities
The PSS Officer has the overall responsibility to ensure that quality psychosocial support activities both community-based and focused are delivered to children, caregivers and adolescent boys in a timely and efficient manner with the support of the Child Protection and GBV Coordinators.
• Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on child protection and GBV minimum standards
• Provide technical guidance, on the job coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on the principles of psychosocial support and learning and development principles for children and adults.
• Ensure the team is trained and provide coaching on PSS toolkits, approaches and curricula for caregivers, children and adolescent boys.
• Ensure that all spaces where activities are implemented meet interagency standards for safe spaces whether mobile or static
• Observe community based PSS activities at least two days a week and provide technical guidance on community-based protection, planning community-led initiatives and identification and referral.
• Ensure that the PSS team meets a minimum amount of referrals to case management, focused/community-based PSS, specialized or inter-sectoral services on a monthly basis
• Ensure that consent is taken from caregivers for the participation of their children in DRC activities. Including signing the permission slip for participation and transportation
• Support each member of the PSS team to develop a weekly, monthly and yearly work plan. Update it regularly and follow-up on its implementation
• Hold weekly team meetings to discuss challenges and successes faced in implementation
• In coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) officer, ensure the quality implementation of the grants’ MEL plan. Share the results and lessons learned in a timely fashion with the relevant parties
• With the support of the protection manager and CP/GBV coordinators; document gaps, bottlenecks and challenges in implementation and develop action plans to address these
• Support the PSS team to enter data safely in line with the principles of informed consent, need to know principle and respect for the confidentiality of information
• Write field visit daily and weekly reports on major findings, needs and problems faced;
• Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders through information sharing and coordination
• Coordinate donor or internal visits to PSS or community-based activities with the support of the protection manager.
About you
To be successful in this role you must have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology Child Development or other related field
• Excellent knowledge of Child Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles
• Excellent knowledge of psychosocial support basic principles and PSS key messages to vulnerable children and caregivers
• Excellent knowledge of child and adult development and learning
• Excellent knowledge of basic facilitation skills
• Excellent knowledge of safe identification and referral principles
• Good knowledge of GBV and Child Protection case management
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
• Flexible working hours availability

Required qualifications
• At least 3 years of experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in Child Protection or GBV sectors
• Experience managing teams
• Experience providing on the job coaching and mentoring and building capacity of staff
• Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
• Comfortable in a multicultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well
• Fluency in Arabic and English required
Desirable qualifications
Ideally, you will also have:
• Master’s degree in Social Work and/or Psychology
• Previous experience in working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon
• Previous experience in Child Protection and/or GBV psychosocial support
• Previous experience managing large teams
We offer
DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till the end of December 2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from March 2017 and be willing and able to work in Akkar.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates and Nationals; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at level C1, equivalent to 1,650$ per month.
