Who are weDRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk
Duties•Reception of visitors to the office in liaison with the security guard at the office's entrance; Inform Interview Officers of the arrival of families or individuals and coordinate the meeting room arrangements;•Ensure children and/or youth who accompany their parents to interviews are either in the meeting room, or in the Child Friendly Space (CFS);•Monitor children in the CFS an ongoing basis to ensure children are comfortable and safe while parents are busy with the Interview Officers;•Responsible for operating main office phone line by receiving, giving and dispatching office telephone communication to the relevant recipients, or answering basic questions as necessary;•Providing secretarial services as required by DRC project personnel (i.e. write basic correspondence, phone calls, photocopies, etc.);•Confirming appointments of the refugee families in line with the Interview Officers and Information Officer’s requests and/or other personnel if required; •Unofficial translation (English/Arabic) upon request;•Administrative support for the organisation of any meetings and interviews to be conducted; •In coordination with the Log/Admin Officer, follow up, maintenance and distribution of the office stock of stationery by maintaining alog book for the said items and sharing the information with the Log Admin Officer.
About you•At least one year relevant work experience with similar functions, including basic work with children and/or youth;•Strong people skills, particularly verbal and written communication; •Basic ability to work with computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)•Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments;•Shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges;•Professional proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English;•Familiarity with DRC programme and operational procedures a plus.
We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a six month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from May 2015 and be willing and able to work in Beirut.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. Basic Salary: 1240 USD
