Senior Capacity Building Officer (National Staff Only)

We are looking for a highly qualifiedindividual with a mind set to achieve success in a humanitarian organization working in a challenging but interesting environment.    Who are we  The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assistance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo About the job  The Capacity Building Officer has the responsibility to build the technical capacity of local partners (non-governmental organizations) and Social Development Centers (managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs-MOSA) as well as the internal training of DRC staff in Bekaa. Duties  Technical support  • Undertake capacity assessments of the local partners and SDCs on GBV and Child protection prevention and response activities (including reflection workshops) with the support of the CP and GBV coordinators, and in coordination with the line manager;   • Provide trainings based on the harmonized training packages to local partners and SDCs; and provide coaching sessions to local partners and SDCs’ social workers and/or specialized staff on Gender-based violence (GBV) and Child protection prevention and response activities  • Oversee the provision of trainings on organizational capacity in coordination with CP and GBV coordinators, FAM and Operation Manager; Grant implementation and reporting  • Ensure the implementation of the capacity building plans;   • Understand and follow up on activities and assess progress of implementation, provide solutions and report issues when needed, in coordination with the Protection Manager  • Ensure implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program;   Coordination and representation  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers; and develop and maintain effective and positive working relationship with local partners and SDCs  • Coordinate program implementation through regular meetings with donors and all other local and international actors;   About you  To be successful in this role you must have 2-3 years NGO experience; bachelor in Social work, Psychology, women’s studies or another related field; experience in conducting training needs analysis/assessments and developing training programs for a broad range of audiences from different institutional levels; excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility, Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel); Flexibility in working overtime when needed, Experience in building capacities of local partners and providing direct technical support to local organizations, Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties.  Ideally you will also have master degree in gender studies, social work and/or psychology, Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings, Conflict management, Staff development, Teamwork skills and Stress management We offer  An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from July 2016 and be willing and able to work in Bekaa.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
