Senior People With Specific Needs Caseworker Assistant (National Contract)

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified candidate to be provide case management to people with specific needs. 

About the job 

Provide case management to people with specific needs, conduct psycho-social support and peer-to-peer support group sessions with people with specific needs. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• In compliance with best-practice and international standards in PWSN response, provide case management to vulnerable PWSN through high quality and confidential interventions in line with minimum standards for service provision and DRC’s case management SOPs, with the aim of empowering PWSN, allowing individuals to access their rights, regain control over their lives and restore dignity 

• Conduct home visits to vulnerable individuals, assess their needs and engage with their family members and caretakers, develop, implement and follow up on action plans, and monitor sitation prior to case closure 

• When needed and with their informed consent, liaise with DRC’s lawyer to ensure that PWSN receive legal counselling in line with the case plan / liaise with psychologist to ensure that PWSN receive mental health and psychological support services / safely identify and refer PWSN to individual case management or other relevant and available services 

• Ensure close coordination with PSS teams in order to ensure survivors, children and their caregivers are referred from case management to PSS and vice-versa 

• Provide psycho-social support and peer-to-peer support to PWSN through group interventions, to be conducted in accessible safe spaces identified in collaboration with group participants 

• Create a safe space where participants can voice their opinions, thoughts and emotions, share experiences and brainstorm on solutions in a confidential and respectful manner 

• Apply age and gender appropriate facilitation skills during group sessions; use inter-active adult learning techniques to effectively engage with session participants 

• In collaboration with the GBV Protection officer, receive referrals, develop an action plan and appropriate response to each case. Ensure that informed consent/assent is taken before opening a case file, and prioritize intervention according to risk level;Work closely with the Child Protection and GBV sections when a case involves child survivors, particularly when assessing best interest of the child 

• Assess received cases and take immediate action to address urgent situations 

• Deliver inclusion of PWSN training to DRC staff

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a bachelor degree in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required  

• 1 to 2 years of experience in delivering case management to PWSN required 

• Good knowledge of GBV and CP case management principles 

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, safety and inclusion of PWSN at all times 

• Excellent gender and age appropriate facilitation skills, child development and adult learning techniques, and good knowledge of GBV, child protection and PSS basic principles  

• Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills 

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) 

• Ability to work flexible hours 

Desirable 

• Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings

We offer 

Contract length: 11 months’ contract (pending on donor approval) 

Level: B+1 

Monthly Basic Salary: 1450 USD 

Duty Station: Akkar 

Start date: First of January 2018
