Senior Protection Monitoring Assistant (National Staff Only)

The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assistance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.  For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.ngo   About the job  the Senior Protection Assistant will be responsible for providing direct supervision for the implementation of activities in support of persons with specific needs and assistance of vulnerable groups.     Duties  • To support Protection Assistants through the provision of technical support and guidance. To ensure that staff implement and respect protection principles in the PwSN support and Protection Monitoring.  • To be responsible for the establishment and functioning of the Community-based committees in the area of operation in close coordination with Protection Officer, Protection Manager and other sectors;  • To contribute to the maintenance of an up-to-date service mapping of the service providers operating in the area and ensure that protection assistants are informed about the available services;   • Responsible to gather list of beneficiaries of Emergency Cash Assistance from the assistants and prepare the final list on a daily basis. The list will be prepared in consultation with the Protection Officer and Protection Manager;   • Organize and coordinate daily field visits and Focus Group Discussions/participatory assessments, assign referrals to protection assistantsand ensure that weekly reports are submitted systematically (Tools, questionnaires, physical files) including preparation of weekly and monthly work plans in a timely manner upon Protection Officer’s validation;   • Work with the PSS and Capacity Building teams (CP and GBV case management)and other sectors to ensure protection prevention and response is adequately addressed across sectors and humanitarian interventions;  • Gather protection related materials for information dissemination and share them with the protection assistants. In addition he/she will be responsible to keep these materials updated and will organize awareness raising materials that can be used with the communities in collaboration with the Protection Monitoring Officer;  • Maintain and update database on protection activities, including provision of support to Protection Officer in writing reports on the protection activities/team (achievements, challenges, recommendations, etc.), and archive all the documents relevant to the protection activities. About you   To be successful in this role you must have bachelor’s degree in social work, political sciences, Law or related fields, minimum 3-4 years’ experience in related field, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well  Ideally you will also have master degree in Social work, Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon   We offer  An interesting job in one of theworld’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 9 months’ contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from July 2016 and be willing and able to work in Bekaa.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
