Shelter Assistant

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the Shelter Assistant position. Who are weDRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the jobImplementation of shelter related assessments and site identification, working within a team of highly motivated people and an organization dedicated to provide assistance to Syrian refugees.Duties• Carry out daily field visits related to shelter issues • Collecting relevant information of identified shelters• Participate in selection of shelter materials, suppliers and skilled labors• Assist Shelter Officers• Filling out a questionnaire, conduct interviews• Conduct regular field trip for monitoring and supervision of ongoing shelter projects • Assist in the survey and design of existing sites and buildings, including sketching and technical descriptions• Keep good relations with local implementing actors and other international and local stakeholders About youTo be successful in this role you must have Diploma in Civil/Mechanical engineering or any other related field.Ideally you will also have At least one year of relevant professional experience in similar area such as shelter, and construction (Experience in NGOs preferable) We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 24 August 2015 and be willing and able to work in Tripoli.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
