We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Shelter Assistant for the DRC Field Office in North Bekaa.
Who are we?DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.
DutiesGeneral Responsibility• Carry out daily field visits related to shelter issues• Identifying abandoned structures to be used as collective shelters• Collecting relevant information of identified shelters• Participate in selection of shelter materials, suppliers and skilled labours• Assist Shelter Officers
Specific tasks• Conduct participatory assessments and oorganize community meetings when needed.• Filling out a questionnaire, conduct interviews• Conduct regular field trip for monitoring and supervision of ongoing shelter projects• Assist in supervision of construction projects on site.• Assist in the survey and design of existing sites and buildings, including sketching and technical descriptions• Assist in describing and estimating of constructions and procurement cost and drafting the bill of quantity• Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies)• Keep good relations with local implementing actors and other international and local stakeholders• Assist in issues related to procurement, purchasing practices and documentation, financial procedures,• Maintain excel database to ensure that statistics and other reports are produced on a timely basis;• Other relevant duties as directed by the Program Manager.
Qualifications and Position Requirements• High School Diploma .• At least one year of relevant professional experience in similar area such as shelter ,and construction • Demonstrated use in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

You must be available to start work from January 2015 and be willing and able to work in Baalbek. Basic Salary: 1180 USD
