Who are we:The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world.DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006.  DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the jobUnder the supervision of  the Shelter Manager in South Lebanon, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing and rehabilitating pre-existing unfinished or uninhabited buildings in collaboration with local actors and authorities, and undertaking other construction activities in support of DRC program. Duties• Rehabilitate old structures to improve the leaving conditions for displaced effected of the Syrian crises• Conduct regular field trip for monitoring and supervision of ongoing shelter/ CSP projects• Data collection and obtain detailed locally technical information and organize community meetings when needed• Obtain necessary agreements and understanding from local authorities• Survey of existing sites and buildings, including sketching and technical descriptions• Preparing of tender documents, drawings and bill of quantities• Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the project and materials based on observations and discussions with team and stakeholders• Supervision and monitor construction projects on site• Draft weekly, monthly situation report, and technical reports and narrative• Follow up and ensure that projects are executed within allocated budgets and in conformance to the set design and specifications.• undertaking other construction activities related to CSPs (infrastructure projects)• Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Shelter Manager About youTo be successful you must have• Bachelor degree as Civil/structural engineer or related field.• 3 to 5 years, working in the construction field (experience with NGO is Preferable)• Practical experience in engineering, including survey, planning and execution of building construction projects.• Documented skills in project planning and design, drafting, calculation and technical writing.• Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD• Be native Arabic, and Good in English. We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a six month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work asap and be willing and able to work in South.Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff.
