Social Counselor (North, Bekaa) - Call For Expressions Of Interest

Syrian Crisis in Lebanon: North and Bekaa OVERALL OBJECTIVES The Danish Refugee Council is fast expanding its response to the Syrian crisis and is looking to identify suitable Social Counselors who are interested in working in the North (Tripli or Akkar) or in Bekaa (Zahle or Baalbeck) who will be requested to respond quickly to vacancies as they become available. BACKGROUND The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Social Counselor, to support its activities under the project "Emergency response for displaced Syrians in Lebanon". Main responsibilities: Individual Counseling and support: Carry out individual interviews with Syrian displaced to assess their mental health, identify their needs and prepare an intervention plan accordingly to women with SGBV cases, and children at risk's counseling and support: Carry out Syrian displaced family appraisals to assess their family environment, identify their psychological / socio-economic needs, detect SGBV cases and children at risk Prepare for and conduct awareness sessions for the concerned stakeholders (both for the displaced and the local community) Prepare for and hold meetings with the concerned stakeholders (both for the displaced and the local community) throughout the project when necessary File keeping and reporting: Open and maintain a file for each beneficiary (based on the DRC file template) Write monthly reports about the evolution of the work on this project and the results achieved Meetings: Participate in staff meetings and coordinate with the community center team for the benefit of the beneficiaries Other responsibilities: Carry out any other duties relevant to the nature of the job as requested by the Community Center Coordinator Qualifications & Experience: University degree; preferably related to social work Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience Experience in SGBV cases and Children at risk Experience in emergency work is a plus Required Skills: Excellent communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Commitment to the values, vision and mission of DRC Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel…) Well-developed organizational and planning skills Self-motivation and strong team spirit Ability to speak, read and write Arabic and English proficiently Starting date: TBD Conditions: DRC offers a competitive local salary and benefits package. The position will require full presence in the North or in Bekaa,  from Monday till Friday, in addition to weekends when needed.
