DRC Background
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.
DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Social Worker - Baalbeck, to support its activities.
Reporting To
Protection Officer
Responsible For
Monitor all protection issues of PoC in the targeted areas
General Responsibility
Daily coordinate with UNHCR and all other local and international actors;
Receive referrals from different agencies and local actors and provide feedback of actions taken
Assist Protection officer in reporting of activities;
Assist Protection officer in administrative matters related to the protection/CS activities;
Assist Protection officer in the daily/weekly work plan,
Carry out daily field visits and conduct Focus Group Discussions/participatory assessments/rapid protection assessment;
Specific tasks
Conduct visits to vulnerable new arrival families’ homes, assess their needs and report accordingly by:
Filling out a questionnaire, conduct interviews using physical files or androids
Identifying individuals with specific needs and referring them to the appropriate facilities
Identifying protection problems (such as separation of family members, security, sexual and gender-based violence, etc.)
Disseminating and sharing information with Persons of Concern on their rights and access to services
Provide psychological first aid and basic counselling to individuals with psychosocial needs
Monitor protection risks and needs
Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies)
Organize data collection related to protection monitoring of new arrivals
Ensure data collection on new arrivals on a daily basis and coordinate with DRC’s collaborative partners
Organise ad hoc roving patrols along the border to observe migration movements if needed
Set up necessary measures and create a conducive environment to ensure confidentiality during interviews and to secure sensitive information.
Work to build up a key informant network to monitor new arrivals and specific protection needs
Establish refugee committees and ensure consultations with them in all the phases of the project implementation
Keep good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders
Maintain excel database to ensure that statistics and other reports are produced on a timely basis;
Closely coordinate with relevant staff on protection issues.
Reporting
Write field visit daily reports on major findings, needs and problems faced;
Contribute to the overall protection/CS monthly report underlining protection issues and related trends and figures in coordination with the Protection officer,
Propose new activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered with activities
Others
Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Protection officer

Conditions

Contract: Local, until the 30th of June, renewable (Based on Performance and availability of funds)
The position will require full presence in Baalbeck from Monday till Friday, in addition to weekends when needed.
