Verification Assistant - Tripoli

  DRC Background The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.   Verification Background In October 2013, UNHCR/WFP started targeting Syrian Refugee Households for inclusion in humanitarian assistance.  The targeting process resulted in a significant number of refugees being excluded from assistance. An ongoing verification process is being carried out to ensure that the most vulnerable refugees are not excluded.  For the DRC Verification team this will entail conducting data collection surveys through household visits.  DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Verification Assistant to support its activities in Tripoli.   Duties and Responsibilities General Responsibilities Organize and conduct verification household visits to ensure refugees are receiving the right package of humanitarian assistance; Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and the Verification Officer carry out the daily/weekly/monthly work plan; Assist the Verification Officer with administrative and logistic requirements of the Verification Team; Ensure the verification schedule, data collection targets, and reporting deadlines are adhered to; Assist with all other duties as required by the M&E Manager and Verification Officer.   Specific Tasks Conduct verification household survey visits, ensuring that the Code of Conduct is adhered to at all times; Double check and revise the questionnaire at the end of each household visit to ensure accuracy and correct any mistakes in the survey; Participate in the daily briefing/debriefing with the Verification team, as well as any other meetings requested by the Verification Officer and/or M&E Manager; Identify and refer/report individuals with special needs, protection concerns, and any other issues of concern are reported to the Verification Officer and/or M&E Manager; Ensure quality standards are adhered to for Android data collection, entry, and upload; Ensure timely reporting on verification activities; Provide regular verbal feedback on field observations and verification findings to the Verification  Officer and/or M&E Manager.   Qualifications and Position Requirements Essential Relevant work experience – preferably in social work, community development, non-government, civil society, and/or outreach areas; Advanced level certificate or studying towards a Bachelor-level university degree; Good knowledge of local context and community in the Tripoli area; Languages: Fluency (native speaker) in written and spoken Arabic, sound working knowledge of written and spoken English; A current driving license; Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and a strong team spirit; Self-motivated and organized with a demonstrated capacity to manage time and personal work plan; A caring and optimistic attitude are essential requirements of the position!   Preferable A Bachelor degree in a relevant field; Experience working with communities, families and individuals with special needs; Experience using survey and/or Android data collection software and tools.   We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, irrespective of race, gender or age.     Conditions Availability: ASAP Duty station: Tripoli, Lebanon Contract: Local, 6 months renewable   Application process Only motivated applications that address the stipulated duties and meet the required qualifications, sent together with a CV, will be considered.
