Who are we
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

About the job
The Web Developer/Designer is responsible for the design and build of the DRC Lebanon interaction web-based platform. Working directly with the MEL-IM Coordinator and Communications Manager, the Web Developer/Designer will be responsible for initial planning and recommendations regarding website development of an interactive/dynamic online platform system linked to DRC Lebanon data sets and audio-visual products – with the potential for a longer term consultancy to deliver the final product and train DRC IM/DB/Communications staff on basic maintenance of the website.
Duties
• Initial concept brief and recommendations to deliver final product within budget regarding web development/design products, template or unique build options for the online platform, compatibility with existing DRC Lebanon database and web tools, and integration with DRC Lebanon database/server;
• Make initial recommendations regarding system sustainability and maintenance, including: human resource requirements, ongoing funding/budget requirements, training and capacity development of staff;
• Coordinate/Liaise with relevant DRC staff and consultants, including: MEL-IM / Database / Communications Units and Visual Content Producer consultant regarding website content, web platform concept, and communications requirements of the project;
• Submit draft proposed work plans and budgets for final web product development;
• Present recommendations and work plan/budget to MEL-IM Management Team and Online Platform Project Team.
About you
To be successful in this role you must have
• Undergraduate degree/Technical college diploma (or equivalent experience) in computer science, IT, graphic design, communication and media, or other relevant areas.
• At least 3 years of experience in web design/development (portfolio of works required);
• Experience with relevant operating systems/software – such as Windows, Linux, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, Angular JS, Node JS, Postgre SQL, ASP.net, CSS, Adobe suite or equivalent (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator etc);
• Experience with UI/UX design;
• Experience linking web content with social media sites;
• Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high-level of motivation, social and inter-personal skills, and experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and nationalities.
Ideally you will also have
• Advanced degree in photography/film, graphic design, fine arts, communication arts, media or other relevant areas;
• Experience using advanced software – Adobe Premier/Final Cut, After Effect, and equivalent;
• Experience working in Lebanon and/or the Syria crisis regional response is an advantage;
• Experience in web development/design for NGO, particularly those working with with refugee and other vulnerable populations;
• Experience in web communications and diffusion techniques, reporting, documentation, online publication, and audio-visual material in relation to humanitarian and development fields;
• Experience in planning and delivering communications/promotions events, particularly website launches.
We offer
An interesting consultancy job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 5 day consultancy contract, renewable dependent on work plan / budget / performance. You must be available to start work from 11 March 2016 and be willing and able to work in Beirut.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position is a consultancy contract, with salary commensurate with level of experience.
