Mental Health Research Consultant

Scope of Work

The selected Researcher (Mental Health Expert) will work closely with the DAA Project Manager and relevant staff to conduct a rigorous mixed-methods study. The key responsibilities include:

  1. Research Design & Tools
  • Develop a comprehensive mixed-methods methodology and sampling framework
  • Design and finalize data collection tools (surveys, psychological assessments, interview guides)
  • Submit an inception report detailing methodology, tools, timeline, and ethical considerations
  1. Data Collection & Analysis
  • Conduct quantitative data collection, ensure quality control, and perform statistical analysis
  • Conduct qualitative interviews with female prisoners (with authorization) and key stakeholders, and perform thematic analysis
  1. Ethical Compliance
  • Ensure informed consent, confidentiality, and anonymity
  • Apply trauma-informed, gender-sensitive approaches and comply with ethical standards for research with vulnerable populations
  1. Reporting & Dissemination
  • Prepare draft and final research reports integrating quantitative and qualitative findings
  • Develop an executive summary and policy brief
  • Present the findings to stakeholders at a dissemination event that you organize and deliver.

 

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of research experience in mental health
  • Proven experience in mixed-methods research
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Experience in detention settings is an asset

Competencies

  • Knowledge of validated psychological assessment tools
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong understanding of ethical standards in research
