Remuneartion: 300 EUR per month for a total of 900 EUR.

Background
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting political participation and democratic governance worldwide. DRI’s monthly newsletter is a crucial communication tool that disseminates information about the organisation’s activities in Lebanon, latest developments in democracy and governance, and relevant news and events.
DRI Lebanon is looking for a resourceful intern to support in the preparation of their monthly newsletter by conducting research, drafting articles, collecting information, and assisting in the overall content creation process. The assignment further includes the development of various written communications outputs in Arabic and English. The internship aims to provide the intern with hands-on experience in journalism and content creation.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Country Representative, and in close coordination with the other team members, the Communications Intern will:
- Conduct research on democracy-related news, events, and developments in Lebanon;
- Assist in drafting and editing articles for the monthly newsletter in Arabic and English, in accordance with DRI’s editorial guidelines;
- Collaborate with DRI’s Communications and Programme teams to gather relevant content, including success stories, case studies, testimonies, and interviews;
- Source images, graphics, and multimedia elements to complement newsletter articles;
- Support the proofreading and fact-checking process to ensure accurate and high-quality content;
- Contribute creative ideas for engaging and informative newsletter content;
- Stay updated on current trends and developments in the fields of journalism, democracy, and governance;
- Develop various written communications outputs in Arabic and English, as needed;
- Other relevant duties that may be required.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a journalism, communications, or related media program at a recognised university/college;
- Outstanding writing and communication skills in English and Arabic;
- Interest in democracy, governance, and political participation;
- Proficiency in conducting online research and fact-checking;
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines;
- Outstanding attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
