DRI is looking for a social media expert to deliver one full-day training session to a group of 13 Young Media Makers to increase their knowledge in the methods and tools used to enhance user engagement on social media posts using diverse platforms.

Background

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. It has been established in Lebanon since 2016. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide. Democratic discourse is the basis of our mission and vision. In our work, we facilitate discussion and exchange about democratic government and the need for a continuous discourse adhering to democratic rules.   

In the framework of its project entitled “Nafas Jdeed Season 2: Expanding the media discourse around elections in Lebanon”, DRI is working to expand the democratic space for a civil society-led debate on system change in Lebanon. Nafas Jdeed is an online political talk-show that introduces new faces to the media landscape and amplifies civil society voices, with the assistance of a group of 13 Young Media Makers (YMMs). In addition to the talk-show, the YMMs are supported through a capacity-building programme to strengthen their capacities in the media sector.

To this end, DRI is recruiting a social/digital media expert to deliver one full day training workshop in April 2023. The objective of the training is to enhance the knowledge of the trainees about the methods used to enhance audience engagement and to help grow their presence on social media.

Duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of DRI’s Programme Manager, the Expert will:  

• Develop interactive and detailed training modules, a training session plan, and all accompanying background materials (½ expert day);   
• Deliver one full-day training workshop for 13 YMMs, following an interactive, engaging approach, e.g., discussion activities, exercises (one expert day
• Prepare pre- and post-training test modules to be shared with the participants before and after the training sessions, once validated by DRI; 
• Once the training is completed, submit a training report summarizing the training outcomes and the pre-post tests results, and reflecting the trainees’ increase in knowledge as per the template provided by DRI (½ expert day).  

 Your Skills & Experience  

• A university degree in communication, digital marketing, advertising or any other relevant fields; 

• At least 7 years of working experience in the social media field;
• A track record of at least 4 trainings related to social media;
• Deep knowledge of the best practices and latest trends within social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.;
• Excellent verbal communication skills;
• Gender and cultural sensitivity;
• Working proficiency in Arabic and English.
