The COVID-19 situation is leading to changes and restrictions in living and working conditions and hence to considerable uncertainties and added pressure for GIZ’s international and national personnel and managers in Lebanon. To deal with those stressors, GIZ Lebanon is currently making use of the following structures:
- Staff Care working group
- Peer support program
- Psychological support
Complementary to the above measures, GIZ Lebanon will launch a team coaching initiative.
This Expression of interest aims at identifying consultants / service providers, who are interested in and have proven experience with coaching of teams.
Interested service providers will be included in a short list and will be asked at a later stage to prepare a short technical concept and a financial budget based on the Terms of Reference, which will be provided during the tender procedure.
Through the tender GIZ is aiming to identify a consultant who will support GIZ project teams in fostering staff wellbeing, healthy stress management, support structures amongst colleagues, constructive conflict management skills, staff-care informed leadership and team cohesion and will collaborate closely with existing staff care and support mechanisms within GIZ Lebanon. He/She will be tasked to provide the following services:
- Teams support: conflict management, stress management and team cohesion (upon demand)
- Conduct group coaching sessions for the management team and project teams. Topics and specific staff care needs shall be agreed upon with the teams in beforehand of the coaching.
- If specific requests arise within the group sessions, complementary individual coaching for managers and staff members on stress management and staff support may be provided.
- Support employees and management staff in cases of conflict upon demand, including conflict mediation when needed.
- Conduct crisis interventions when needed, for instance in cases of accident or disaster that affect teams or the organization as a whole.
- Open group sessions (upon demand)
- Co-facilitate open group debriefing or discussion sessions together with local psychologists, staff care working group members or peer supporters.
- Provide technical input into group sessions on topics such as stress management, dealing with crisis, impacts of Covid-19 etc.
- Support local psychologists, staff care working group members and peer supporters in establishing a regular structure of open group support sessions if needed.
- Support the development of a comprehensive staff care concept
- Hold introductory, interim and final meetings with GIZ management team, organizational development consultant , peer supporters and staff care focal points.
- Introduce him-/herself in GIZ Lebanon’s all staff meeting and hold individual exchanges with members of the Lebanon Management Team to better understand needs and challenges.
- Meet with the staff care focal persons of the different management and project teams to get input on the staff care needs of their teams every six months.
- Advise the Country Director and staff care working group in measures for improving staff wellbeing, motivation, work satisfaction, cohesion, conflict culture etc. through reports and discussions.
- Liaise with the organizational development consultant, the consultant who is supporting the peer support program, as well as local psychologists to ensure an integrated approach.
The duration of the contract will be for 1.5 years with an optional one-time-extension of additional 1.5 years.
Education
- University qualification (master’s or equivalent) in Psychology or Health or a related field.
- An accreditation in systemic approaches to team development and wellbeing at the workplace as a plus
Professional experience:
- at least 5 years’ experience of group coaching of teams with focus on stress management and staff care of teams in crisis (work-related stress, conflicts with colleagues and executives, burn-out / bore-out, secondary traumatization, etc.)
- Professional experience working with organizations in humanitarian or development contexts, in particular with international NGOs, donor agencies etc.
- Good organization and time management skills
- Effective communication and ability to give constructive feedback
Experience in the region/knowledge of the country: Lebanon for at least 10 years.
Language skills: business fluency in English and Arabic.
