EOI for an expert to develop 7 technical theoretical subject curricula for the Furniture and Wood industry specializations and support the development of the General Framework Guide for the new BT in “Furniture and Wood industry”

The VTE4all project financed by the EU and implemented by GIZ, is designed to support Lebanon in the context of the protracted displacement crisis providing job-related competences for vulnerable Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians. The main project approach is participatory and based on capacity development which aims to empower key stakeholders in Vocational and Technical Education. The project activity consists in developing curricula of Competency Based Training (CBT) modules in at least two sectors (different from construction). The selection of the sectors was made in a way to cover the needs of the local market and the CBT modules are delivered as short-term courses in the afternoon in a public school of the Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Education DGVTE and in the morning as a Travaux Pratique (TP) in the frame of a secondary technical education. The two sectors initially selected are furniture making and dairy production.

Outline of the mission

The public technical schools had existing BP and DS programs in furniture and wood industry, but the curricula were outdated and need to be improved adding more practice orientation with the inclusion of CBT modules to be delivered as TPs. VTE4all proposed a new design of BT with one common specialisation of 6 CBT modules and a plurality of different specialisations of 4 other CBT modules. After the completion of development of the CBT modules proposed, VTE4all plans to develop 8 technical theoretical subjects that can be offered to trainees, along with the CBT modules, as a new BT program (4 subjects in BT1 and 4 subjects in BT2).

The expert begins his/her mission with developing the first curriculum in close coordination with the project team, following a second curriculum in autonomy. At this point, on the base of mutual satisfaction, VTE4all will ask the expert to continue the mission for a specific number of additional curricula or the mission should be considered closed.
