The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is currently implementing its project Sustainable Facility Management at Public Schools in Lebanon. As part of this project GIZ intends to award a contract for construction works related to “Green Schools” measures at 3 public schools in Lebanon located in the following 3 districts: Zahle, Chouf & Sour. The scope of work includes:
- Concrete and metal works (high quality case in place concrete, concrete jacketing, steel canopies, precast concrete elements, etc.)
- Leveling and earthworks: terracing, fences, etc.
- Landscaping: hardscape, softscape (soil, shrubs and trees plantation, groundcover, etc.)
- Outdoor refurbishment of recreational spaces and sports facilities: garden and play equipment, outdoor games, sports fields and surface finishing, etc.
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) improvements and new installations related to environmental measures: solar panels and batteries, indoor and outdoor lighting, efficient water management appliances, rainwater harvesting tanks, etc.
- Minor excavations and demolition works.
- Minor indoor refurbishment works.
- Works shall be launched simultaneously in all 3 locations mentioned above.
Tender procedure from invitation to tender until signing of contract is expected to take place between June 2022 and September 2022. Shortlisted companies will be able to take part in this tender but only one company will be granted the award for all 3 schools under one contract. Construction work is expected to be performed and completed approximately within 4 to 6 months from signing of contract.
To qualify for consideration in the tender procedure, interested companies are required to submit the following information and documents for eligibility assessment:
- Official letter expressing interest.
- Company details including full company name, full address, phone and email.
- Copy of company registration certificate.
- Proof of membership at the Lebanese Contractors Syndicate under either one or multiple categories:
- “Special Buildings” (المباني المتخصصة) for projects in group 6 (less than 0.5 million USD).
- And/or “Special Buildings” (المباني المتخصصة) for projects in group 5 (between 0.5 to 1 million USD).
- And/or “Buildings” (المباني) for projects in group 5 (between 0.3 to 1 million USD).

- Company profile including number of employees (total permanent and total temporary), their field of activity and qualifications, and short CVs for the key staff.
- References of works of similar nature as specified above such as: playgrounds, parks and gardens, water and energy efficiency measures, public school refurbishment. Please specify the total value of works if possible, and year(s) of implementation (performed within the last five (5) years).
- Annual total turnover for each of the last three (3) years.
- Evidence of ownership of equipment and machinery necessary to execute the works or evidence of possibility to hire the same.
- Statement of commitment for ensuring the dedication to the project timeline and working on all the 3 locations simultaneously under one contract.
- Filled questionnaire sent with this Expression of interest (please note that most information requested above are part of the questionnaire).
