Job Profile
- Required qualifications, competences, and experience
Formal Qualification:
- holds a valid Lebanese driver’s licence still valid for at least 4 years
- profound knowledge of Lebanese road traffic regulations
Professional experience:
- Minimum 7 years’ work experience as a driver with references (3 years in Lebanon)
- thereof at least 2 years’ experience in working for international cooperation agencies or companies
- no major accidents in the past 7 years
Other knowledge, additional competences:
- very good knowledge of the English and Arabic languages (spoken and written)
- good working knowledge of ITC technologies and related software (e.g., Outlook, internet applications), etc., and computer applications (e.g., MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
- good communication and cooperation skills
- appropriate appearance and attire (friendly manner with all passengers and contacts)
- discipline and punctuality, dedication/commitment, reliability
- willingness to work irregular hours/weekend, and being flexible when needed
- ability to cope with dynamic situations
- experience and ability to act thoughtfully while dealing with unexpected challenges
- team player/ability to cooperate with others
- self-initiative, independent execution of assigned duties
- cooperate with office management duties as per request and availability.
- Major Responsibilities
- Driving services
- Prior plan travel routes to determine the most expedient journey.
- Monitor traffic and weather reports to remain updated with road conditions.
- Adjust routes to avoid heavy traffic or road construction, as needed.
- Passenger transport in an official car according to daily requests
- Perform messenger services for the transport of documents and values as per daily request upon request
- Transports of equipment, goods, and luggage as per request
- Record keeping in the car Logbook as per GIZ Rules and the consumption book
- Coordinate and receive updated information on road conditions, accessible routes, and locations in close coordination with the GIZ RMO Unit.
- Drive defensively, observing all traffic regulations in Lebanon and additional rules given by the GIZ RMO-Team
- Vehicle Management and car maintenance
- Ensure that all required security and first aid equipment is available in GIZ vehicles, in line with national standards and GIZ regulations.
- Keep driver’s license, vehicle documents, and insurance status updated.
- Perform daily servicing and regular care of GIZ vehicles as per service plans and requirements.
- Conduct routine checks on oil, water, brakes, brake fluid, tyre pressure, battery levels, headlights, and body condition.
- Report the need for servicing and carry out minor repairs when possible.
- Inform the line manager immediately of any restrictions on vehicle availability.
- Keep the vehicle clean and disinfected in accordance with GIZ hygiene standards.
- Report all accidents, including minor ones, as well as any damage, loss, or theft involving the program vehicle or its fittings.
