A. Background
GIZ –German International Cooperation Agency- supports the German Government in achieving its goals in international cooperation for sustainable development.
The target group of the project are male and female cultural and creative entrepreneurs, mainly aged 15-35, self-employed individuals, business start-ups, owners of MSMEs and their employees. Furthermore, interest representation groups and support systems of the sector such as revenue collection authorities, groups for the creative sector or chambers of commerce are partners of the project. The project will be implemented collaboratively by a team based in Germany (Bonn), Africa (South Africa, Kenya, Senegal) and the Middle East (Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq). For the 3 countries in Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA), a regional hub is established in Johannesburg, South Africa, coordinating the activities in the region, and the same is established in Amman, Jordan, for the MENA region. The project is implemented in close cooperation with Goethe institute and aims at improving the prospects for employment and income for micro, small and mediums enterprises (MSME) and entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative industries.

 Activity Plan for National Intern (Intern)

Reports to: Program Advisor

A. Required Qualifications, Competencies and Knowledge: Formal Education

▪ University degree in Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field of studies that can be applied to Conflict Transformation (Psychology, Theatre etc.)

 

Other Qualifications

▪ A genuine passion for peace building and community activism or related fields like youth empowerment

▪ Internet proficiency and solid knowledge of standard office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic

▪ Creative open-minded team player with strong initiative and willingness to learn

▪ Ability to work in a multi-cultural working environment

▪ First experiences in planning, monitoring and evaluation (PME) of development projects as well as in qualitative and quantitative data collection

▪ Previous experience of work with community and youth mobilization

▪ Previous experience of working with refugees’ communities is a plus

 

B. Responsibilities:

The national intern is responsible for:

▪ Assist program advisors during their fieldwork if needed

▪ produce meaningful and effective output including program and project documents, presentations

▪ Provides support to project staff, including administration assistance

▪ Support in creation of social media content related to participatory peace

▪ Assists in organizing of meetings and events

▪ Prepares of briefing notes and minutes.

 

The intern performs the following tasks:

C. Tasks:

▪ Accompany team members on field visits and assist in carrying out meetings and workshops with/by partner organizations

▪ Attend and support relevant events by CPS, POs and other PB actors from different regions across Lebanon and map newly established initiatives and/or actors

▪ Supporting Knowledge Management & Project Administration

 

 

▪ Supporting CPS program in the area of planning, monitoring and evaluation (PME)

▪ Support CPS in content creation for social media presence

▪ Support one key activity/ project implemented by CPS during the internship period

▪ Conduct any other tasks upon request

 

Description of the project:

The Civil Peace Service in Lebanon works hand in hand with and supports civil society organisations in the fields of Conflict Transformation, Capacity Building, Dialogue, Media, Theater in social contexts and Peace Education. The program supports various platforms that facilitate intrasocietal dialogue and create spaces for youth and community activism. These include series of events for future leaders, events involving political youth organisations as well as work with young media and theater professionals. A playful and participatory approach is used to teach methods of non-violent communication to people in remote communities and educational institutions. It aims to raise awareness about conflict management and is making non-violent behavior a conceivable option.
