Junior communication specialist

  1. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field of work (economics, social sciences, political science, communication or equivalent)

Professional experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience of working in the field of employment promotion or related areas, e.g. private sector promotion, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) or communication
  • Experience in international development cooperation will be an advantage
  • Experience in communication work and familiarity with social media and online publications
  • Knowledge of instruments of active labour market policy
  • Basic knowledge of and experience in project management
  • Fluency in writing, reading and speaking in English and Arabic, Knowledge of German language will be an advantage
  • Strong communication and coordination skills

 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Knowledge of national development policy issues, development cooperation and international cooperation
  • Social, intercultural understanding and interest, flexibility, ability to work in a team, sense of diplomacy, ability to work in a politically sensitive environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment as part of a team
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high quality work products
  • Willingness to up-skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
  • Computer literacy (MS Windows: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Social Media and Internet)

     

  1. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

  • Supporting activities in the field of monitoring and communication
  • Supporting the development of information and communication products
  • Contributing to innovation and knowledge management
  • Supporting in stablishing synergies and ensuring good collaboration with other field of activities within the project, as well as with relevant projects under the GIZ umbrella and those of other donors

 

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

  • Supports the officer responsible for the commission (AV) and project staff in the organizational and content-related implementation of the project, in particular internal project monitoring and communication

  • Supports the project's knowledge management and assist in the preparation of analyses, strategy papers, presentations, publications, and other materials to increase the project's visibility.

Description of project: The aim of the project is to improve the employment situation of young Lebanese adults, women and people with disabilities in selected pilot regions (Beirut and Mount Lebanon).

The project has 3 outputs:

  1. employment potentials for young adults, and women and people with disabilities are identified.
  2. employability of young adults, women and people with disabilities is improved.
  3. the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in selected employment-relevant sectors is improved.
