Communications Volunteer

The GIZ Office in Beirut is looking for a Communications Volunteer to help the organization.
The Communications volunteer will ensure support in the effective implementation of GIZ’s Office Beirut communication plan for six months. Central to this function will be the provision of support to the Portfolio Manager at the GIZ Office.
The Communication volunteer will work under the orientations of the Portfolio Manager and any other person designated by her, to whom they shall report directly and ensure a culture of communication and cooperation, contributing actively to the precise and effective management of the GIZ Office Beirut Portfolio. They will ensure the implementation of the office’s communication plan. The volunteer will receive an action plan prepared jointly by the GIZ Beirut Office PR and Communication Officer and the Portfolio Manager.
- Required Qualifications, Competencies and Knowledge: Formal Education
University degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent
Other qualifications:
- Previous work/volunteer experience is a plus
- Good oral communication skills in English and Arabic
- Excellent command of written English and Arabic
- Strong knowledge of social media and in the use of digital tools
- Good working knowledge of ICT and Microsoft 365
- Creative, open-minded team player with strong willingness to learn
- Previous work/volunteer experience with INGOs or NGOs
- Ability to think and work independently and work precisely with attention to detail
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Constructive and positive attitude
- Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds
- What you the Communication Volunteers do:
- Assist Portfolio Manager in communication-related tasks
- Support in the implementation of the PR and communication action plan for September, October, and November
- Support in updating, drafting designing, proofreading and editing internal and external communication materials (e.g., press releases, publications, PowerPoint Presentations, social media posts, factsheets, etc.)
- Support in the preparation of talking points and briefing notes in close coordination with the Portfolio Manager
- Support in the internal Knowledge Management
- Assist in the preparation and planning of internal and external events at country office level
- Monitor local media and social media platforms
- Perform other tasks might be assigned by the portfolio manager according to office work and the demonstrated capabilities
