Security Guard – GIZ RMO
Job Profile
- Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Knowledge
Formal Education
- High school degree, or equivalent.
- Additional certification or training in security, safety, or emergency response is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience as a security guard or similar position.
- Experience with CCTV, access control systems, and emergency procedures.
- Working experience with an international organization is an advantage.
- Holding security qualifications such as firefighting, first aid, etc., is an asset.
Other Qualifications
- Good understanding of safety, fire prevention, and emergency response protocols.
- Good written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with staff and visitors.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel).
- Excellent organizational skills and strong self-motivation.
- Demonstrates high levels of integrity, resilience, and intercultural competence.
- Reliable and mature in handling confidential information.
- Physically fit and able to conduct regular patrols and inspections.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Responsibilities
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of GIZ premises, staff, visitors, and property. The position holder maintains a professional, vigilant, and proactive approach to safeguarding the organization’s operations and assets.
- Tasks
1. Building and Premises Security
- Safeguard the GIZ offices, buildings, and parking areas against unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other risks.
- Conduct routine patrols of all areas to detect irregularities, potential hazards, or maintenance issues.
- Monitor and operate security systems, access control, and alarms.
- Maintain responsibility for office keys and key boxes, ensuring proper tracking and secure storage.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and entry points are locked and secured after office hours, and that all electric switches, lights, and equipment are turned off once staff have left the premises.
- Conduct after-hours safety inspections focusing on building safety, fire prevention, and security concerns.
- Immediately report any suspicious activities, damage, or hazards to the supervisor.
Access Control and Visitor Management
- Register all visitors entering the premises and issue identification badges (visitor cards) according to GIZ policy.
- Maintain accurate visitor logs and ensure all guests are escorted when required.
- Provide information and respectful assistance to all visitors, staff, and guests coming to the GIZ offices.
- Ensure main entrance and parking areas always remain secure and well organized.
Documentation and Incident Reporting
- Maintain a task log of all safety-related activities, events, and inspections.
- Document and report any incidents, irregularities, or safety observations on time.
- Support the senior risk management officer (SRMO) in gathering information or preparing incident reports when required.
Emergency and Coordination Support
- Assist during emergencies, including building evacuations, first response, and coordination with emergency services.
- Support the implementation of safety and fire prevention measures within the building.
- Liaise with building management, facility maintenance, and external security staff as necessary and when requested.
- Other duties/additional tasks
- The position holder can also be tasked at any other location within Lebanon, under the instructions of her/his supervisor.
- The position holder is responsible for other tasks at the request of the direct supervisor, SRMO, or cluster coordinator.
