Duties and Responsibilities:
As a GIZ employee, the GIZ Security Risk management Advisor (m/f) Lebanon works under the supervision of GIZ Country Director (currently residing in Amman, Jordan). He/ she liaises with a range of actors, among them NGOs and International Organizations, and analyzes the development of the security situation and its impact on GIZ project work. He/ she informs and advises GIZ personnel and management, tracks movement of GIZ personnel in Lebanon outside Beirut and further develops GIZ Lebanon’s security procedures and documents.
Qualifications:
University Degree in political science, international relations, journalism or another relevant field required
Sound professional experience in development, humanitarian and/ or international organizations required; preferably at least 5 vears and in progressively responsible positions
Working experience outside Beirut, especially in the North and Bekaa highly desired
Familiarity with development/ humanitarian organizations’ safety & security management systems highly desired
Formal trainings in safety & security for development/ humanitarian organizations, risk management and/ or hostile environment awareness desired
Excellent understanding of context in Lebanon required
Excellent analytical skill required
Good communication and advisory skills highly desired
Ability to work autonomously with little guidance and to take sound decisions in critical situations without overreacting required
Fluent in Arabic and English required
Good knowledge of German desired
Formal security, police or military training and/ or work experience is not sufficient on its own without experience in the field of development/ humanitarian work
