Local coordinator for Syria

Within the framework of public funded projects and subject to the final funds approval of its donors, DW Akademie is seeking to engage a Local Coordinator for Syria to support and coordinate various project activities in the country.
The Local Coordinator should be based in Damascus and be willing to travel within Syria.

Scope of work

The responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating activities in Syria, such as events, workshops, and visits of DW Akademie project team
  • Managing networks and fostering exchange with identified civil society organizations, stakeholders, and projects
  • Collecting financial reports and supporting documentation from partners and service providers
  • Maintaining regular communication and exchange with DW Akademie staff in Lebanon and Germany.
  • Conducting research on media-related topics.
  • Handling logistics.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of three years’ experience in coordinating local or international donor-funded projects.
    • Experience working with Syrian civil society organizations and/or media institutions in Syria or in exile.
    • Native-level Arabic speaking and writing skills, and fluency in English (spoken and written). 
    • Ability to work effectively in an intercultural team.
    • Willingness and ability to travel within Syria as well as to Europe (Germany).
