Key Responsibilities of the PSS Animator:

  • Outreach to children through mapping and assessing to attend PSS activities;
  • Register and enroll children in PSS activities.
  • Develop an action plan of activities, topics, and other types of interventions.
  • Ensure that all activities are done in an appropriate, accessible, and safe location in line with minimum child-friendly standards.
  • Attend all required internal and external training and meetings properly;
  • Ensure that all children and caregivers are aware of any accountability/complaint mechanism.
  • Deal with difficult behaviors (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) and understand the reason behind the behavior;
  • Plan and identify materials and any kind of support required for every intervention on weekly basis;
  • Collaborate in ensuring that the material appropriately used and later stored in a safe way at the end of the day;
  • Report and support the constant evaluation process about the impact of activities on children/youth;
  • Provide information about progress when required;
  • Revise sessions according to each feedback/evaluation and constantly adapt approaches and exercises;
  • Ensure a daily proper recording of data (# of children, adults participating, activities delivered);
  • Provide official and on-time reports for any security and safety incident;
  • Ensure effective engagement of children with disabilities in the PSS activities;
  • Ensure that the beneficiaries can participate in designing the activity, to express themselves and to be heard.
  • Monitor child progress, identify children in need and refer special cases to the CP Officer as soon as identified.
  • Ensure children under his/her responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities;
  • Ensure Do No Harm approach;
  • Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job;
  • Respect and abide by the Child Protection, Code of Conduct, and PSEA Policy with colleagues, children, and caregivers;

Requirements for the position (Criteria):

  • Bachelor's degree or of equivalence in years of experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a related field.
  • Manages time and priorities, meets deadlines.
  • Knowledge of child protection.
  • Cooperates and contributes to achieving goals.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and readiness to work on weekends and/or holidays (if required).
