Purpose of the position
The Country Director is expected to formulate and implement the strategic direction of a country organization and to provide the leadership and integral management of the country organization within the framework of an agreed Country Annual Plan.
The Country Director will be responsible for:
Representing Dorcas in the country of duty;
Formulation and implementation of the Country Annual Plan;
High quality programme design, project proposals and project implementation;
Providing leadership for the logistical, financial, HRM and administrative management of the projects implemented by Dorcas and local partners;
Maintaining and establishing strong relations with embassies, international donors, INGOs, local government bodies, UN coordination structures and other relevant stakeholders;
Providing sufficient security, technical advice and support to field staff and partner organisations;
Ensuring of (local) partners quality in implementation standards, guidelines and reporting;
Timely submission of reports to all stakeholders including donors according to their requirements;
Institutional fundraising for maintaining, or where needed and possible for the further expansion, of program portfolio in country of duty.
Job Requirements:
BSc or Master’s degree in International Humanitarian Action, Disaster Management or other relevant field
Minimum of five years international humanitarian work experience;
Expert in Disaster Management and experience in institutional fundraising;
Knowledge of and experience in coordination within the UN cluster system;
Leadership skills, proactive attitude, flexible personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Experience in representing a non-profit organisation;
Experience in writing proposals, capable to pursuit, set goals and to achieve them;
Fluent command of English;
Ability to travel and work in a cross-cultural environment;
Settled character with ability to cope with stressful, delicate and possibly dangerous situations;
Adherence to the mission and vision of Dorcas;
